LIBRARIANS' COMMENTS |
A post 9/11 story of exile, unlikely friendships disintegrating marriages with a backdrop of West Indian immigrants playing cricket in New York. This is a fascinating and challenging read. The “great American novel” of recent years, this is a beautifully written and thought provoking work. Beautifully written reminiscent of Fitzgerald about a Dutch banker living in New York following 9/11 and his unusual friendship with a cricket loving West Indian. In post 9/11 New York Hans Van Der Brook finds solace and friendship with a Trinidadian expatriate with dreams of building a cricket stadium. O’Neill questions whether our lives are a series of memories linked by the associations and stories we tell ourselves. |
