ABOUT THE BOOK

Tapestry is a novel which has the present ethnic crisis in Sri Lanka as the background to its story. It also gives an insight in to such important human questions such as love and religion. Above all, the book is entertaining and fascinating.

Tapestry is a story about a Sri Lankan academic, who is at a crisis in his life. It is intriguing to find out how together with his friend, who is from a different ethnic group and religion, he finds the answers to his questions on love, ethnicity, gender and purpose of life. The tragedy of the human being, which is the inability to sift the real from the unreal, is brought clearly to his vision and the duality and ambiguity of a world caught in an ever-changing flux is experienced, though to some, his actions seem wrong and controversial. It is a book about the equality of all human beings, a book necessary for the time, a book both beautiful and meaningful.
